Southern Stainless fabricated and installed a total of 950 metres of stainless steel pedestrian balustrade, as well as 350 metres of bicycle balustrades for Queen's Wharf, located along the Brisbane City foreshore. It runs parallel with Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and is integrated through the QUT Ferry Terminal.
We helped engineer the balustrades during the initial design stage and were able to suggest alternative material thickness and sizes, in order to save on overall costs.
In addition to detailing shop drawings for the balustrades using Solidworks, we were able to assist the client by producing full detailed drawings of the concrete girders and services within.
All stainless steel used was high quality 316 marine grade sourced through our local supplier.
The stainless steel plates were water cut in-house, polished to 600 grit with a surface smoothness less than RA 0.5 microns, fully fabricated to AS1554.6 then electropolished in-house prior to delivery on site for installation.
We were able to deliver the balustrade package on time, to budget and within the strict quality requirements expected by the client.
