Australian Consumer Law
Goods supplied by Southern Stainless Pty Ltd in Australia come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled to:
- A replacement or refund for a major failure
- Compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage
- Repair or replacement of goods if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure
“Acceptable quality” and “major failure” have the same meaning as defined under the Australian Consumer Law.
In New Zealand, products are supplied with guarantees pursuant to the:
- Consumer Guarantees Act
- Sale of Goods Act
- Fair Trading Act
Where products are purchased for commercial purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act may not apply.
This warranty applies to new Southern Stainless and Cookout BBQ products purchased directly or through authorised dealers throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Southern Stainless Pty Ltd guarantees that products are free from defects in materials and workmanship for the applicable warranty period, subject to the conditions below.
Any approved warranty fault will be repaired or rectified by Southern Stainless Pty Ltd, provided that:
- Proof of purchase is supplied (invoice or receipt)
- The product has been installed correctly
- The product has been used in accordance with supplied instructions
- Installation, freight, travel, cartage and insurance costs associated with the claim are covered by the claimant, where applicable
This warranty covers faults caused by defective materials or workmanship only.
The warranty does not cover:
- Batteries, filters or consumable items
- Parts, accessories or modifications not supplied by Southern Stainless Pty Ltd
- Cosmetic or superficial damage that does not affect operation
- Normal wear and tear
- Corrosion or damage caused by lack of maintenance
- Damage caused by misuse, abuse, impact or overloading
- Incorrect installation or inappropriate operation
- Power surges, storm damage or incorrect power supply
- Unauthorised repairs or servicing
- Use of the product for purposes other than its intended application
Southern Stainless Pty Ltd and its authorised dealers are not liable for consequential loss or damage arising from the use of the product.
These warranty conditions may only be varied with written approval from the Director of Southern Stainless Pty Ltd.
Caring for Stainless Steel
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to maximise the life and appearance of stainless steel products, particularly in marine and coastal environments.
We recommend:
- Washing stainless steel regularly with fresh water
- Removing salt spray, dirt and contaminants
- Using suitable stainless steel cleaning products where required
- Inspecting fittings and components periodically
Proper maintenance helps minimise surface staining and ensures long-term performance.

- Have your model and serial number available
- Prepare proof of purchase documentation
