Project Description: Southern Stainless was engaged to fabricate and install stainless steel safety and pedestrian handrails throughout the arrivals area of Gold Coast Airport, running parallel with taxi ranks and drop-off zones.
Given the high-traffic nature of the airport environment, the system was designed to provide reliable pedestrian guidance while maintaining a clean, modern appearance in line with the surrounding infrastructure.
All components were manufactured from mirror-polished 316 marine grade stainless steel, selected for its superior corrosion resistance in harsh coastal conditions. Detailed shop drawings were produced in SolidWorks and submitted for approval prior to fabrication, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the project.
To minimise disruption to airport operations, installation was carefully scheduled and completed during night shifts, allowing continuous daytime activity within the terminal.
