A common question we get asked is how do you electropolish stainless steel.
Electropolishing is the reverse of electroplating and smooths the microscopic surface of stainless steel objects by removing metal from the object’s surface through an electrochemical process, leaving it bright, clean and microscopically smooth.
Our in-house electropolishing facility within our Ormeau factory incorporates an electropolishing bath that is set-up for electropolishing stainless steel only. This bath allows us to electropolish large items measuring 4 meters long x 1.1 meters wide x 1.7 meters deep.
So why electropolish stainless? This process enhances age physical appearance of stainless, gives better corrosion protection, easier to clean and also enhances the mechanical properties.
